Over the last few months I have helped troubleshoot a several dashboards that all led to the same resolution. As it turns out the Xcelsius dashboards were built in a way that conflicts with a basic Xcelsius principle:
You can not configure an Xcelsius component to insert data into cells that contain formulas.
If you think about it in Excel terms… If you select a cell that contains a formula and type a value, the formula will be purged. This holds true for Xcelsius components that insert data into a destination range (primarily selectors and chart drill down). If you bind any Xcelsius insertion property (destination cell) to cells that contain formulas, you will get inconsistent behaviors within the Xcelsius SWF.



I have used this behaviour to my benifit.
If I want to lock a slider in place.
eg Value is in A1, in B1 put the formula “=A1″ then point the slider at B1, it shows the correct value but the user cannot move the slider.
